Making Sea Moss gel is easy as it takes three easy steps: Wash, Soak, Blend. Here we will share how to make the best Sea Mos seek and extra tips for infusions.
1) Rinse Sea Moss thoroughly with spring water to remove any ocean content. Drain & repeat 2 or 3 more times or until water runs clear.
2) In a large container, add cleaned Sea Moss, fresh limes and a whole cinnamon stick as well as spring water. Ensure the water covers the moss completely, as it will expand 2-3 times when rehydrated. Adding cinnamon sticks and fresh limes while soaking helps to reduce the ocean smell and taste.
3) Let the Sea Moss rehydrate for 24 hours at room temp.
4) Drain water, then place the rehydrated sea moss in your blender.
5) Add spring water (or infused liquid, herbs/spice/fruit and sweetener if desired) to the blender cup. Fill liquid to about an inch over your Sea Moss.
6) Blend until smooth and creamy. For a thinner consistency, add more water a little at a time. Pour Sea Moss into clean glass jar and place in fridge to gel. Use within 4-6 weeks.
*** How to make infused liquid***
1) Add 4 cups water with herbs/spice to pot, bring to boil then reduce to simmer for 15-30 mins.
2) Remove pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely, then strain. Add infused liquid to blender at step 4.
